MATHEMATICS
Grade Six Mathematics
MAT-0601
This course is designed to review all basic skills in whole numbers,
fractions, and decimals. Students will learn to solve ratios and
proportions and to perform percent conversions, as well as the perimeter
and area of geometric shapes. Probability, statistics, and integers
will be introduced and problem solving skills will be emphasized.
Grade Seven Mathematics
MAT-0701
This course prepares students for Pre-Algebra and High School Algebra.
Topics include ratios; proportions; percents; exponents; scientific
notation; integers; solving simple algebraic equations and inequalities;
statistics; probability; and problem solving.
Grade Seven Pre-Algebra
MAT-0702H
The course prepares students for Algebra I (high school level) in
Grade Eight. Topics include number theory; solving equations and inequalities
with rational numbers; the coordinate axis system; graphing equations
and inequalities; exponents; scientific notation; squares and square
roots; percent; and probability.
Grade Eight Pre-Algebra
MAT-0801
The course prepares students to take High School Algebra. Topics
include number theory; solving equations and inequalities with rational
numbers; the coordinate axis system; graphing equations and inequalities;
exponents; scientific notation; squares and square roots; percent; and
probability.
Grade Eight Algebra I
MAT-0801H
This course is designed for the Grade Eight student who has successfully
completed Pre-Algebra. Topics include the real number system; solving
advanced equations and inequalities; adding, subtracting, multiplying,
and dividing polynomials; factoring polynomials; complex fractions;
equations and inequalities in two variables; roots and radicals;
and solving quadratic equations. Students will earn high school credit
upon successful completion of this course.
